International Wind Art in Northern Hesse
4th wind art festival “moving wind” – "Windform"
Aug. 17th - 31th 2008
at the Geopark Waldeck-Frankenberg
Wind is global. It is multifaceted and intangible, like art is.
In "moving wind" the unshapedness of wind meets the creative power of artistic forms. For the fourth time, wind art was the theme of the "bewegter wind" art competition, which was held internationally. Organizer was the district Waldeck-Frankenberg in cooperation with the Geopark, curator and organizer was the artist Reta Reinl.
The resonance was bigger than ever and resulted in an exhibition with 115 exhibits of artists from 17 countries and 3 continents. At four exhibition locations in the Geopark Waldeck-Frankenberg the competition theme "Windform" was explored and interpreted. Contrasting landscapes, geological phenomena, ridges and mines formed the stage for the wind objects, installations, films and dance and music performances. The works of art created a connection with their surroundings and offered insights and discoveries in art, geology and the particularly diverse landscape of Waldeck-Frankenberg. More than a third of the artists had come personally from Germany and abroad. It was international and multilingual. The exchange between visitors and artists was direct, friendly and informative. When they met again at the next exhibition location, they were already familiar in the conversation about their art knowledge. The "Rückenwind" wind farm in Gembeck, the "Korbacher Spalte", the National Park Centre and the visitor mine in Bergfreiheit were the places that offered the impressive exhibition setting.
Our thanks go to the artists who have given shape to the wind and to all those who have contributed to the fact that this event as a joint effort has shaped and promoted the image of this region.
