Finissage
Closing ceremony and award presentation: The House of Wind is closed now

The Wind Art Festival in Zierenberg flew by in no time. Thousands of visitors flocked to the mountain. Without rushing. Instead, they took their time and leisurely strolled from installation to installation, taking in this unique triad of art, wind and landscape. From time to time, a new artistic idea, a new perspective on the landscape and cheerful people exchanging their experiences with each other. Or simply sitting and enjoying the views. Fresh perspectives, colourful impressions, new thoughts.
You need time on the Berg der Warte. Some come every day to experience the many aspects of weather and light. Visitors from other parts of Germany complete the art trail in a day.

They ask when the next one will be. Where will it be? bewegter-wind never goes to the same place twice. Zierenberg was the 36th location in the Windkunstland Nordhessen, where wind art, videos and performances were exhibited. On Sunday, visitors had one last chance to enjoy the moment, visit their favourite exhibits one last time and let the Zierenberg wind blow around their noses.

Karin Poppenhäger: Frischer Wind in alten Tüten

Opening on Sunday 17th of August, 2025

Zierenberg becomes the venue for international wind art:

‘bewegter wind 2025’ brings a breath of fresh air to North Hesse

From 17 to 31 August 2025, the landscape around the Zierenberger Warte will be transformed into a lively open-air art trail. The 12th edition of the international wind art festival ‘bewegter wind’ will present installations, performances, wind objects and videos by artists from all over the world – inviting visitors of all ages to marvel, discover and participate.

The bewegter wind e. V. association – promoter of wind art and intercultural communication – is bringing the renowned art festival to Zierenberg in the district of Kassel in the summer of 2025. ‘This year's exhibition shows an impressive variety of artistic ideas – and opens up fresh perspectives on the local landscape,’ explains curator Reta Reinl. ‘A circular trail almost 3 kilometres long has been created around the Zierenberg watchtower, uniquely combining art and landscape.’

Artists selected:  Venetian clouds, shimmering threads and Abraham's sausage kettle

Ideas fluttered into the ‘bewegter wind’ clubhouse from all over the world for the competition theme ‘...fresh’. Shimmering thread installations from Japan, new images of women from Nigeria, a performance from Hungary, mantarayas from Mexico, thematising the environment and climate, social approaches and so much more. 156 applications were received from 22 countries and entered into the database by members of the association.

An ideas competition needs some preparation to present all the artists' ideas to the selection panel in a visual way. Designs on the changing power of the wind and new perspectives were presented. The jury was made up of experienced professionals from art-land-culture projects: Corinna Köbele is the initiator of the artists' town of Kalbe ( https://kuenstlerstadt-kalbe.de/) Together with fellow campaigners and lots of art, she has brought about changes in her town that attract attention. Teresa Weißert is an artist, art historian and is responsible for transformation through art in the countryside at Kompost-Ensemble (https://kompost-ensemble.de). Reta Reinl is an artist and curator of bewegter-wind.

Versatile exhibition venues - thanks to the farmers

The 12th ‘bewegter wind’ wind art festival will take place from 17 - 31 August 2025 in Zierenberg. The competition and exhibition is organised by “bewegter wind” e.V Association for the Promotion of Wind Art and Intercultural Communication, which organises the wind art festival together with partners and helpers.

For this year's wind art exhibition, curator Reta Reinl has found areas and landscapes around Zierenberg. With the support of Mayor Rüdiger Germeroth and the town council, contact was established with the landowners and tenants. In co-operation with the municipal farmer Thomas Rose, the concerns of various interest groups were discussed and areas were found for an exhibition tour around the Zierenberger Warte that would not interfere with the harvest during the construction and exhibition period.
